San Lazaro (2011) Filipino Movie

Sigfried (Wincy Aquino Ong), an unemployed accountant, gets into trouble with his landlord. He needs money to pay for his rent. Sigfried, in a stroke of luck, gets a call from an estranged childhood friend, Limuel (Ramon Bautista). Limuel tells Sigfried that his brother Biboy (Nicco Manalo) has been exhibiting psychotic behavior after his wife left him. Limuel, knowing that Sigfried’s uncle (Allan Forte) is the renowned Singing Exorcist of San Lazaro, asks Sigfried to accompany him in bringing his brother Biboy to the remote town of San Lazaro, ten hours from the city by car.[5] They reach the exorcist just in time, but the possessed Biboy eats the vocal cords of the Singing Exorcist, thereby rendering the exorcist incapable of performing the ritual. In the end, the injured exorcist explains that the spirit can only be defeated by feeding it a dark secret. Limuel tells the spirit that he has been trysting with his brother’s wife.

The movie tells the story of Ana played by Shaina Magdayao who has always been having nightmares about certain people getting killed. Things become scarier when her ex-boyfriend played by Jake Cuenca brings her to Villa Estrella where she meets a girl named Gisele played by Maja Salvador who seems to be very familiar to her

The Strangers is a 2012 Filipino teen horror film directed by Lawrence Fajardo. It stars Enchong Dee, Julia Montes, Enrique Gil and JM De Guzman. The film was produced by Quantum Films and MJM Productions and will be distributed by Star Cinema in December 25, 2012. It is also one of the official entries for the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival.

The story takes places on a family who got lost in a province and start being hunted by The Strangers especially the aswang.

For their 18th birthday, twins Pat and Max (Julia Montes and Enrique Gil) go on their annual out of town family trip, to the far flung oasis of Murcia. Joining them are their parents Roy and Evelyn (Johnny Revilla and Cherry Pie Picache), their grandfather Pete (Jaime Fabregas), his temporary caregiver Paloma (Janice de Belen) and their newly hired family driver, Toning (Nico Antonio). The family members set aside personal differences and go on with the trip, as they look forward to the provincial excursion. Treading the rough roads of the countryside, their happiness is cut short when their van hits an old lady on the road. Unsure of what happened, the family tries to search for the body but it is nowhere to be found.

With the body missing, and protesting their innocence, Roy quickly asks everyone to go aboard the van and leave the vicinity. The van silently trudges its way along the dusty road but mysteriously stops after a few minutes in the middle of a forested area in Cabitongan. And from then on, as night sets in, the family is hounded by bad luck. Toning is attacked by an unknown creature, Roy and Lolo Pete are missing, and the rest of the family members are stranded in the middle of nowhere. Lost and confused, the remaining family members unite but things take a turn for the worst, when they realize that they are trapped in a barrio full of mysterious people headed by Kapitan Tasyo (Art Acuna), his wife Corazon (Tanya Gomez) and their son Crispin (JM de Guzman).

As they are stuck in the isolated village, a series of aswang attacks begin. Pat finds alliance and connection in the unlikely form of Dolfo (Enchong Dee), an enigmatic young man, but whom the villagers suspect to be evil. As the attack by the relentless aswang continues, Pat and Dolfo, together with Max, Evelyn and Paloma, and the rest of the villagers, battle it out for survival, in the hopes of making it through the night, alive and undead.

Tarot centers on Cara (Marian Rivera) who has a unique gift. As a child she was able to predict two deaths in her family by reading her grandmother’s tarot cards. Cara soon realizes that the tarot cards may have unleashed a cursed. And in order to prevent the onslaught of misfortune, Cara must unlock the secret behind the tarot’s deadly powers.

Since Ivan's proposal, Mabel is haunted by an unknown ghost who seems to endanger everyone around her. As the terror escalates, she discovers an unexpected twist that will test her love for Ivan.

Things change after Louella pays a visit and suggests a peace offering, due to a family feud years back, by helping Romano’s blind sister Isabel with her eye operation. He accepts the offer and they go to Manila with Louella. Romano has a premonition that their van will encounter a horrific accident. They seek help from a local necromancer and it is confirmed that the ghosts Romano sees are their “sundo” and they can not escape their macabre fate.

A Save an Orphan Volunteer is taking care of a young girl, who is being stalked by Engkantos, as the chase begins, the lives that surrounding them maybe at risk.

Metro Manila Film Festival 2011 offers two of the country’s most popular actors from two opposing networks, ABS-CBN’s Kris Aquino and GMA-7′s Dingdong Dantes, together in the horror-suspense film Segunda Mano. Director Joyce Bernal, directing her first ever horror film, describes the premise of Segunda Mano (also known as SecondHand / PreLoved / PreOwned) “Sometimes there are energies left on things, some unfinished business. So, when extra urge of events starting to happen, you get the feeling of some unfinished business or vibes. Segunda Mano, also stars Angelica Panganiban, is a co-production of Star Cinema, Kris’s MJM Production, and Dingdong’s Agosto Dos Pictures.

But really, the stars are just the bonuses in this movie which is impressive narrative-wise, and more importantly, visually stunning, thanks to some breathtaking locations like the river, the forest and the convincingly designed abuwak mansion. Also worth-noting is the excellence in sound, which makes even a shot of insects crawling to a hole appear something to be coming from a nightmare. This movie deserves to be watched not just because of Lovi and Paulo's star status that can make Twitter followers post pictures of themselves with the "Kagatin Mo Ako" sign. Aswang is another proof of the Filipino movie industry's excellence in the horror genre, which should really be the case since we have a rich source of materials in our myths and legends and we have great love affair with the paranormal and everything unexplained. And for a commercial horror movie, Aswang should be lauded for being brave enough to tell a story that tackles themes and imageries that expose an adult and mature side. It's been a long time since we saw a local horror flick not written with kids in mind.

The leader of the platoon, Martin Barrientos (Dennis Trillo), being the last man standing tries to combat his former men, who are now living dead, in one grueling battle for survival. Unwanted Hank and Kate, together with others who are holed up in a mall try to escape the sea-animal creatures that appeared following an explosion.

Angel Williams (Gwen Zamora) is an assistant manager of a Hotel who has just moved from Manila to Jakarta to be with her ex-patriate family. She, is haunted by a weird recurring dream about a young man committing suicide. One day, her family is slaughtered, leaving no one alive. Her parents, her only sister Safara (Kimberly Ryder), her maid, security, all are dead. She was also chased down and shot by the killer but somehow she manages to survive, having a vivid memory of what the killer looked like, but not knowing who he is. Angel begins seeing apparitions of her sister and sees visions of events that led to her family's deaths. A detective investigates the tragedy but believes Angel's experiences are just her psyche acting out. Angel decides to follow the trail her sister's apparitions lead her to and discover who her sister has become in the past few years, with the trail leading straight to the killer himself.

Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang (or simply Corazon) is a 2012 Filipino horror-drama film starring Erich Gonzales and Derek Ramsay released by Skylight Films, a division of Star Cinema. Corazon revolves around the love story of a married couple during the times of Japanese rule in the Philippines who's having a hard time conceiving a child. After joining traditional fertility rites in honor of certain patron saints, their prayers are eventually answered but unexpected circumstances will lead to their baby's death. At which point the conflict of the story will begin.
